GvW Graf von Westphalen attracts IT Partner Stephan Menzemer
GvW Graf von Westphalen has strengthened its IT law practice with a prominent figure: By 1 January 2014, Buse Heberer Fromm founding partner Stephan Menzemer will join GvW’s Frankfurt office as equity partner.
Mr Menzemer is a lawyer and business mediator. He used to be a member of Buse Heberer Fromm’s partner council as well as leader of the IT practice group and ranks among the “leading IT lawyers” in Germany (JUVE Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien, Kanzleien in Deutschland, Legal Media’s Expert Guide on Technology, Media and Telecommunications). The 49-year old from Frankfurt advises on important national and international IT projects in all industries which are significant for suppliers and users, in the public as well as the private sector. In addition to IT/telecommunications and data protection, conflict resolution is also among his focus areas. Menzemer has been acting as litigator or mediator as well as trusted lawyer of legal departments and managements for his clients in numerous court and out-of-court proceedings.
“GvW impresses the market as an integrated law firm with an excellent reputation and a particularly positive and dynamic development. GvW provides ideal conditions for my team and great potential for the development of my work”, states Menzemer. “My clients feel in particularly good hands in a large German law firm with international focus. I look forward to combining our assets.”
GvW advises and supervises the entire activity range of IT providers and users, now further intensified. In addition, the firm has lately promoted contemporary topics such as IT security, data protection and cloud computing as well as big data in coordination with the Bundesverband Informationswirtschaft, Telekommunikation und neue Medien e.V. (Bitkom) (Registered Federal Association for IT, Telecommunication and New Media). By tradition, IT procurement constitutes one of the firm’s particular strengths.
IP, IT and media practice group leader Dr Kristofer Bott: “We are very glad to have attracted Stephan Menzemer for our firm, a highly renowned IT expert. The strategic expansion of our practice group is substantially advancing with this specific appointment. We could already successfully broaden our range last year with patent lawyer Dr Joachim Mulch and are headed in a very good direction.”

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
