Editorial

Dear Readers,

This GvW International Newsletter deals with the new civil procedure for a class action for a declaratory judgment which came into force on November 1st. The expectations for this class action are high, since one of its aims is to improve the enforcement of consumer rights by bundling the claims of numerous similarly injured consumers, in order to provide collective redress against the same defendant.

In this issue we report on the US "secondary sanctions" against Iran and further safeguard tariffs on goods from China. Both measures are important for the EU economy.

We also comment on a new ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union which strengthens the entitlement of employees to paid annual leave or holiday compensation.

We wish you an interesting read, hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Kindest regards,
