Can a longer standstill lead to the contract being terminable?

Section 6 (7) sentence 1 VOB/B provides for a right of termination for both parties if the interruption of the construction work lasts longer than three months. The same applies if it is certain that an interruption of more than three months is unavoidable.

However, due to the inherent forecasting risk, this route should only be chosen in exceptional cases and after examination of the individual case.
