Since 2 May 2011 Graf von Westphalen's China team has been further enlarged with yet another lawyer with a Chinese background joining the firm's Hamburg office.

Graf von Westphalen has again received high ratings in the international directory “The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa.” In the 2011 edition, the law firm is recommended, in particular, in the practice areas of “Banking and finance: Bank lending”, “Corporate and M&A: Mid-sized deals”, “Employment”, “Public sector”, “Real estate and construction”.

Graf von Westphalen partner Marian Niestedt is one of four Germany-based lawyers and 250 other experts worldwide to be named as a leading figure in the Who’s Who of Trade and Customs Lawyers 2010.

Graf von Westphalen has strengthened its China team by hiring Helena Wan-Rong Chang-Schöne. Ms. Chang-Schöne will join the firm’s office in Frankfurt on April 1, 2011.

InterContinental Finance Magazine has named Graf von Westphalen Germany’s “Law Firm of the Year Trade & Customs.” The award is part of the annual Legal Excellence Awards based on a survey of approximately 15,500 readers of the trade magazine conducted this year.

Graf von Westphalen has appointed another equity partner from its own ranks, with Christian Esch having made the transition on 1 January 2011. The firm now has 46 partners in total.

After several months of negotiations with various bidders, Carlsberg Deutschland GmbH has sold the Dresden-based Feldschlösschen brewery to Frankfurter Brauhaus GmbH. The sale took effect on 1 January 2011.
