Dynamic trend at GvW ranks it for first time in four JUVE Handbook categories

The dynamic trend of GvW Graf von Westphalen was already confirmed by its shortlisting as finalist for JUVE Law Firm of the Year. “The firm has managed to add a 15-strong team just at the right time. GvW has since combined existing and new competences, helping it to reel in new matters in energy transformation and digitalisation”, according to the laudatory address for GvW on the occasion of this year’s JUVE Awards held at the opera house Alte Oper in Frankfurt. It was also noted that the “firm’s internal focus on issues of HR development and ESG also makes a good strategic fit”.

The dynamic trend is also seen in the number of GvW recommendations in this year’s JUVE Handbook: the firm has been included for the first time in four out of a total of 29 top rankings – as one of the top fifty law firms, in five categories highlighting the top offices of law firms by region, and in 23 practice areas. This year GvW’s lawyers are represented for the first time in the areas of patent law, trademark law, competition law as well as administrative and constitutional law. They have also performed convincingly in established “flagship” practice areas such as international trade law, public law and real estate and construction law, as well as the entire gamut of commercial law. In energy industry law, the firm even succeeded in moving up by two more categories thanks to its “thoroughgoing regulatory knowledge”.

There were also recommendations in the following practice areas: employment law; state aid law; energy industry law; corporate law; real estate and construction law; information technology; food; trademark law; M&A; patent law; planning and environmental law; press law and freedom of speech law; private equity; project development and plant engineering; restructuring and reorganisation; tax (JUVE Handbook Tax); telecommunication; procurement law; transportation; sales systems; competition law; venture capital; administrative and constitutional law.

GvW also continues to be highly valued for its “hallmark” strength: successful cooperation between its different teams and offices. In this area and in terms of GvW’s corporate culture, the law firm was “one step ahead” of its competitors. The law firm is also praised for its “forward-looking, internal orientation”, including with regard to ESG.
