Graf von Westphalen creates Local Partner Status for Chinese Fee Earners in its Shanghai Office

GvW Graf von Westphalen has introduced a new career level at its Shanghai office: With effect from 1 January 2014, Li Li was appointed local partner. She is the firm’s first PRC lawyer to receive this appointment.  GvW Graf von Westphalen is therefore one of the few international firms in China which offers a partner perspective also to its Chinese fee earners.

Ms. Li has been working in GvW’s Shanghai office since its opening in 2009 and has been instrumental for its expansion from the beginning. She is a qualified attorney in China and New York and has been advising German and European clients on PRC investment law, corporate and commercial law as well as M&A transactions in China for almost ten years. In addition, she serves as a contact person for Chinese companies investing in Germany.

“We congratulate Li Li on her appointment as local partner“, gladly states Patrick Heid, managing partner of the Shanghai office. “With the new career level, we acknowledge the enormous contribution of our Chinese fee earners to the successful expansion of our China practice. In future, we will remain an attractive employer for excellent Chinese lawyers with a distinct inter-cultural understanding”.

In 2013, GvW’s Shanghai office could attract further renowned companies as new clients in China. In addition, many of the firm’s mid-sized clients expanded their China business last year. Due to its high momentum, GvW has established itself as an attractive employer in the Asian business, and recently, another German lawyer, Dr Philipp Wallau, joined the Shanghai office.
