GvW Graf von Westphalen advises Chinese investor on the acquisition of rotor blade production of SGL Group

Chinese company BetterLife in December 2013 acquired SGL Rotec GmbH & Co. KG (SGL Rotec), a company which produces rotor blades for wind power plants. GvW Graf von Westphalen advised the Chinese investor on the acquisition. The parties agreed to maintain silence on the purchase price and contractual details.

SGL group is a worldwide leading manufacturer of products and materials made from carbon, with 6,700 members of staff operating at 44 production sites. At the Lemwerder site in Northern Germany, SGL Rotec produces high-quality rotor blades with 550 members of staff. Production at Lemwerder is specialised on large rotor blades with a length of more than 60 meters. SGL Rotec’s customers include leading manufacturers of wind power turbines.

Beijing-based company BetterLife generates a yearly turnover of approximately EUR 1.5 billion in the field of automotive trade and has around 2,000 employees.

GvW advised BetterLife with Frankfurt partner Florian Wolff in charge together with Dr Marco Zessel (Corporate, M&A).
