GvW Graf von Westphalen advises ChyronHego on acquisition of DTN’s weather data business

GvW Graf von Westphalen advised ChyronHego on the acquisition of the weather data and weather services business of US-based business information services provider DTN. ChyronHego acquired the shares in the company through an asset deal. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

ChyronHego is a US company headquartered in Melville, New York and specialising in data visualisation for the broadcasting industry. Founded in 1966, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio of software products for easy designing, sharing, and playing live graphics as used (for example) in sports and weather broadcasts. Following the acquisition of the weather data business, ChyronHego will be able to provide its comprehensive production services and service solutions for data visualisation also to DTN customers.

DTN is headquartered in Burnsville, Minnesota, and provides subscription-based services for the analysis and delivery of real-time weather, agricultural, energy, and commodity market information. The company operates a large network of weather stations and merged with European weather forecaster MeteoGroup as recently as in 2019 to support businesses with its digital tools and weather forecasts and ensure their secure and efficient operation.

GvW advised ChyronHego on this multijurisdictional transaction together with other law firms from the international SCG Legal network.
