GvW Graf von Westphalen advises Scienta Scientific in acquisition of Omicron Nano Technology GmbH

Oxford Instruments plc has sold its shares in the German company Omicron Nano Technology GmbH (Omicron) to the Swedish company Scienta Scientific AB (Scienta).  Group companies on both the side of the seller and the purchaser established a leading joint venture in the area of surface technology in this matter.  GvW Graf von Westphalen advised the Swedish group on its activities in Germany.

Scienta belongs to the Swedish group GD Intressenter AB of Sweden and was established in 1986.  The company, with its headquarters in Uppsala and locations in the UK, USA and Japan, is one of the leading suppliers of instruments for surface analysis.

The British company Oxford Instruments plc acquired a participation in Omicron in 2011, a mid-sized manufacturer of equipment for nanotechnology and surface physics located in Taunusstein.  The UK company in Oxford was able to expand its leading position in the development and manufacture of scientific equipment for industry and research with the products “Made in Germany“.

GvW advised Scienta under the leadership of Dr Marco Zessel (M&A/Frankfurt) with a team consisting of Christof Kleinmann, Karsten Kujath (both employment law), Dr Bettina Schmitt-Rady (real estate), Dr Kristofer Bott (IP) and Dr Daniel Komo (M&A).
