GvW Graf von Westphalen extends China Team: Attorney at law Ming Yi (易明) joins the Frankfurt Office

The law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen continues its growth strategy in the China business: The German lawyer Ming Yi has recently joined the firm’s Frankfurt office and will coordinate the activities of Chinese companies and investors in Germany together with Frankfurt-based M&A partner Dr Marco Zessel.

Ms Yi came to Germany in 2003 after her studies of Chinese law at the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, subsequently passed both legal state exams and has since been admitted as a German lawyer. In the last four years, she worked in the Frankfurt office of the US law firm K&L Gates and gained extensive experience there in advising Chinese companies on their market entry and expansion in Germany.

Patrick Heid, head of GvW’s China Desk and managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office: “With Ms Yi, we were able to get a German lawyer and Chinese native speaker with transaction experience on board who perfectly complements our well-established team. Our Chinese clients in particular highly appreciate this combination.”

The outbound business from China has “successfully developed” at GvW, as the industry magazine JUVE states in its recently published Handbuch für Wirtschaftskanzleien 2015/2016. GvW’s advisory practice of Chinese companies in Germany particularly benefits from the close cooperation between the Shanghai office and the firm’s national offices. Via the office in China, the firm succeeds in convincing Chinese investors of the firm’s advisory expertise in Germany time and again. Subsequently, native speakers and specialized professionals provide for a seamless support of the clients in Germany.
