JUVE Handbook 2017/2018: "GvW is an interesting alternative to the large law firms"

"GvW has succeeded, with its clear strategy and the lean cost structures, in being considered sometimes by very well-known clients as an interesting alternative to the large law firms." The independent editorial board of the°JUVE°Handbook 2017/2018 has written this about the development of the law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen.

Juve also writes, "The team-oriented approach to providing advice, which the management under Dr. Robert Theissen and Christof Kleinmann has massively developed is now paying off." The practice group works "closely together without the law firm having given up the strong specialization within the teams."

The JUVE editorial board praises the fact that, in addition to the "flagships" such as foreign trade law (number 1 in Germany) or real estate and construction law (advance to the third category), also other practice areas "were again able to develop further". GvW, which JUVE nominated this year as the mid-size law firm of the year 2017/2018, among other awards, has received a recommendation for all offices and all practice groups. In addition to the areas of employment law, foreign trade, state aide law, banking, compliance, the energy industry, corporate law, real estate and private construction law, insolvency & restructuring, IT & data protection, capital markets law, antitrust law, food law, M&A, the law governing the press and free speech, private equity and venture capital, development projects and planned construction, environment and planning, public contracting law, constitutional administrative law and distribution systems, GvW has now been recommended for the first time also in the areas of insurance law and the traffic sector.

JUVE has said that the law firm has shown "an impact on the market" by advising the German Federal Government in the structuring of the central Autobahn company. The "successful development of the future interface of energy law and digitalization" was mentioned at the JUVE Awards 2017/2018 in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt as a further reason for nominating GvW as the law firm of the year in the area of regulated industries (traffic, energy, healthcare, food). JUVE stated that the law firm has also "firmly established itself in the healthcare industry" and has a "unique position" in providing advice on foreign trade law to the food industry.

JUVE continues to emphasize the transaction business "marked by international mandates" with GvW's "strong Shanghai office". However, also clients from Great Britain and the USA rely, in the meantime, "regularly on the competence of the M&A teams."
