GvW Graf von Westphalen continues to expand its IP expertise with the recruitment of Nicolas Dumont as Equity Partner, who will join the firm’s Frankfurt office from the US firm Arnold Porter on 1 January 2020.
Mr Dumont advises German and international clients on all matters of intellectual property law. His practice focuses on patent litigation and product privacy, particularly in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Göttingen and regularly advises medical device manufacturers in injunction proceedings relating to patent infringements.
Christian Kusulis and Stephan Menzemer, heads of GvW‘s TMC/IP practice group, welcomed his arrival, saying: “His expertise in patent and trademark law makes Mr Dumont a valuable addition to our firm. He will expand our healthcare focus to include a specialist field we have not covered so far. Apart from that, his addition to the team will allow us to accommodate our clients who often ask to be attended by a larger team, especially in patent and trademark law matters.
GvW’s TMC/IP practice group covers not only patent and trademark law but also competition, antitrust, copyright and media law as well as IT, data security and telecommunications. Following strong growth in particular in IT and data security and the addition of telecommunications expert Dr Grace Nacimiento (click), the practice group now counts 14 members.
Nicolas Dumont commented: “Most of the clients I work for are SMEs. They are a perfect match with my new firm. Up to now, I have not always been able to offer a “one-stop shop” to my clients in Germany. That’s going to change, now that I’m becoming part of a full-service entity. My impression of the practice group and the entire GvW team is great. So I’m really looking forward to start working with them in January.”
This move marks the continuation of GvW’s growth, having opened its sixth German office in Stuttgart just recently (click).
