The shareholders of Simi Reality Motion Systems GmbH ("Simi") headquartered in Unterschleißheim have sold 90% of the shares to ZF Friedrichshafen AG ("ZF"). GvW Graf von Westphalen represented the sellers in this M&A transaction.
Simi specializes in image-based 3D systems to identify and analyze human movement. The company has many years of experience as a developer of this 3D software in the fields of professional sports of medicine. This know-how is also of great importance in the automobile industry when developing systems to recognize passengers. These systems are a major element in integrated safety for driverless vehicles.
ZF has the goal of being able to offer integrated safety systems from a single source as a result of the stake in Simi. This worldwide group in the field of mobility technology is one of the broadest based suppliers of automotive safety technology with passenger protectied systems such as safety belts, airbags or steering wheels combined with sensors for the area around the vehicle and the interior and corresponding software. ZF currently is present in 40 countries with 149,000 employees at roughly 230 sites.
