Foreign trade law: GvW further expands its leading position
"The firm's flagship practice impresses with its great expertise in all matters relating to the cross-border trade of goods and has been one of the uncontested market leaders for years". This is what the JUVE editorial team wrote in its current handbook for commercial law firms about the GvW team in foreign trade law, which has already been named Law Firm of the Year for Customs and Excise this year (more). "Competitors regularly praise the team for its in-depth expertise and extensive experience," it continues, recognizing the practice with a 5-star rating, in which more lawyers are "frequently recommended" than in any other law firm. With Dr Katja Göcke, Dr Lothar Harings, Dr Hartmut Henninger, Marian Niestedt and Dr Gerd Schwendinger, all five equity partners in the team have received a personal recommendation.
In the recently published WirtschaftsWoche, GvW is also one of the law firms with the most personal recommendations in foreign trade law. The new partner Dr Katja Göcke (more) and Marian Niestedt have made it into the 12-strong ranking of the "most renowned" lawyers. 1,200 lawyers from 110 law firms were surveyed - a three-member jury of practitioners evaluated and ranked the survey results.
Dr Katja Göcke, Dr Lothar Harings, Marian Niestedt and Dr Gerd Schwendinger are also listed in the publications of Who's Who Legal in the Trade & Customs section, the three last mentioned additionally as "Thought Leaders".
GvW's foreign trade law practice includes advising and representing companies on export controls, embargoes and sanctions, customs and excise duties as well as investment controls. Besides these established areas, the team led by practice group head Dr. Lothar Harings has specifically expanded its portfolio to include ESG in the supply chain and supports our clients in areas such as the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), deforestation-free supply chains and CBAM.
