GvW Legal Counsel Ronnia Zheng appointed as CEAC Local Representative for China

Ronnia Zheng, who works for GvW Graf von Westphalen at its Shanghai office, is among the first “local representatives” of the Chinese European Arbitration Center (CEAC): the arbitration organisation has now appointed her as one of the Local Representatives for China.

By appointing local representatives as experts in China, CEAC is strengthening its global reach and local presence. As a local representative, knowledge of the respective foreign jurisdiction and familiarity with the country in question are required. Ronnia Zheng is Chinese, has worked as a legal counsel at GvW’s Shanghai office and has also completed secondments in Germany. As a result she draws on a wealth of experience with China in general and German-Chinese business transactions in particular.

CEAC is an independent arbitration institution offering services tailored to the needs of commercial entities doing business with Asia, in particular China, based on the CEAC Rules. Many arbitrators working internationally and listed with CEAC have a proven track record in arbitration matters involving commercial transactions with China and other countries. GvW partners and counsels Dr Raimond Emde, Dr Björn Etgen, Dr Klaus Landry, Christian Mayer-Gießen and Felix Prozorov-Bastians are thus also recognised as CEAC arbitrators.

GvW has maintained its own office in Shanghai since 2008 and advises European and US companies on their business relationships in China. This also involves assisting these companies in judicial and arbitration proceedings. Dispute resolution through arbitration is frequently agreed in international legal transactions. Here, the GvW Arbitration Practice and the GvW China Practice provide companies with comprehensive advice and guidance on all aspects of arbitration, from agreeing an arbitration clause to enforcing arbitration claims.
