Successful Business Year 2015 - Once again a significant increase in turnover and profit at GvW Graf von Westphalen

The internationally active commercial law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen again reports an excellent development for the business year 2015. In the past year, the turnover could be increased by EUR 1 million (2.6%) to now EUR 38.48 million, with a team of the same size as in the previous year. But it is even more important that after the extreme profit increase of 17% in 2014, the firm’s profit could again be increased by 7%. There was a UTB increase for the fourth time in a row to now EUR 373,000.

The exit of some partners in 2014 and 2015 could be more than compensated by promoting five young partners from the firm’s own ranks and hiring six lateral entrants, even though such investments systemically require a start-up time.

The practice groups M&A and Corporate could not just significantly increase their turnover, but also their workload. With that, the field Corporate/M&A has the largest share in the firm’s overall turnover with almost 40%, just as in the previous years. The fields IP/IT and Employment Law recorded increases of up to 30%.

“The significant strengthening of our profile as a law firm for national and international SMEs as well as the focus on specialization and enhancement of the service quality have been very good for us”, state the firm’s two managing partners Christof Kleinmann and Dr Robert Theissen. “We will consistently continue along this path in the coming years with our partner’s support.”

As an employer, GvW continues to be hugely popular. Alongside some external new additions in the past year, the partners appointed five lawyers as new partners (more). Young graduates, trainee lawyers and interns have chosen GvW as the most popular employer among the mid-size law firms (more).

Christof Kleinmann and Dr Robert Theissen: “Meanwhile, we have become a highly attractive employer for ambitious lateral entrants. We are particularly pleased that young colleagues also see their professional future at GvW. In the highly competitive race for young talents, we have recently been able to excellently position ourselves as a German full-service law firm.”
