Swedish investor acquires stake in Hamburg Games Company Tivola

GvW Graf von Westphalen has advised the shareholder of Tivola Games GmbH in the majority investment of Swedish investor Three Gates AB in the Hamburg-based games studio.

Tivola Games GmbH is an international publisher and developer of mobile games and apps. The company that was founded in 1995 is one of the oldest development studios in Germany and specialises on games for children. In its 25-year history, Tivola has won important German software awards including “Deutscher Computer Spielpreis” and “Deutscher Entwicklungspreis”.  Tivola Games GmbH is a spin-off of Tivola Publishing GmbH which hereby converts into a holding company and administers all old rights from the business relating to DVDs, board games and books.

The Swedish games developer Three Gates AB, a publicly listed company at OMX Stockholm, with its headquarters in Visby (Gotland), specialises in the development of new and innovative games. With the collaboration, the evolution of Tivola Games that has successfully transformed from a publisher for children games on PCs and consoles to a developer and publisher of freemium mobile games for animal lovers shall be enhanced.

Under the lead of Hamburg based partner Dr Ritesh Rajani (Corporate/ M&A), Tivola Publishing GmbH was advised by team consisting of partners Dr Joachim Mulch (IP; Dusseldorf), Dr Malte Evers (Employment; Hamburg), Dr Patrick Wolff (Commercial; Hamburg) as well as associate Gregor R. Mertens (Corporate/ M&A; Hamburg).
