GvW advises Legrand Group on acquisition of Geiger Group

GvW has advised the French Legrand Group on its acquisition of Geiger Maximizing Net-Solutions GmbH and Geiger Data Network Design GmbH (Geiger Group).

The Geiger Group, based in Irschenberg, can look back on a long company history. Founded in 1997 as an owner-managed family business, the Geiger Group has established itself over the past 25 years as a leading provider of high-quality products and services in the field of IT and network infrastructure.

The Legrand Group is one of the world's largest suppliers of electrical and digital building structures and employs more than 39,000 people worldwide. The group's well-known brands include Legrand, BTicino, Netatmo and Cablo-fil. Frankfurt partner Eric Messenzehl has regularly advised the Legrand Group on its international transactions for many years, e.g. on the acquisition of modulan GmbH (more).

With the sale of the Geiger Group to the Legrand Group, the previous shareholders were able to secure the company's succession and set the Geiger Group up for a successful future. As part of the Legrand Group, the Geiger Group will in the future act as a competence centre for communication cabling (fibre optic cables/CU) and as a leading specialist for solutions in the data centre sector as well as a partner for infrastructure management (cable documentation, power management, DCIM) and monitoring throughout Germany and Europe.

The following GvW team acted for the Legrand Group in the transaction: Eric Messenzehl (M&A, lead, Frankfurt), Benjamin Schwarzfischer (M&A, Frankfurt), Dr Joachim Mulch (IP, Dusseldorf), Christian Kusulis (antitrust, Frankfurt), Sven-Erik Holm (IT and data protection, Frankfurt) and Arne Lordt (employment, Frankfurt).
