GvW Graf von Westphalen’s reception in the market is positive in every respect: After numerous recommendations in JUVE, the firm is now listed in the publication The Legal 500 for construction law, real estate law, environmental and planning law, procurement law, PPP as well as M&A (national medium-sized deals), information technology and energy. In the guide The Legal 500 Deutschland 2014, 15 attorneys of the firm are recommended.
“Real Estate Law: In addition to the interface with construction law which becomes apparent in various project developments, the ‘very well networked’ firm convinces with transaction advice in the areas hotel, commercial, retail and living”, the independent handbook states on the real estate practice of GvW. In addition, the editors praise “a renowned client portfolio” and the “continuous advice for project companies” in construction law.
The assessment of the public practice which is recommended in the publication for the disciplines environmental and planning law, procurement law and PPP, is also gratifying. It reads there: The firm has a “strong public practice”. In the construction, planning and environmental law practice, “business sense and industry knowledge are outstanding”.
The M&A team is attested a “positive development” which is characterized by the “qualitatively good advice as well as the good cost-benefit-ratio”. Numerous transactions in the energy sector (State Grid; SOLEA) have contributed to the fact that the firm is also recommended for the energy sector with three lawyers.
Furthermore, GvW is listed in the field of information technology, which will be significantly strengthened by recognized IT partner Stephan Menzemer. Clients appreciate the “cunning IT practice” and the “professional and precise advice” of the firm, which continues to grow in the “core areas information technology and data protection”.

Federal Administrative Court: Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link may be built
The Federal Administrative Court has dismissed all six pending appeals against the planning decision on the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link. Construction of the tunnel may therefore now also begin in Germany. GvW advised the State of Schleswig-Holstein and was represented by a Hamburg team consisting of Dr Ronald Steiling (lead), Corinna Lindau, Dr Dietrich Drömann, Prof. Dr Christian Winterhoff, Dr Andreas Wolowski, Saskia Soravia, Dr Stefanie Ramsauer, Dr Annika Bleier, Felix Kazimierski and Niclas Langhans. Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
