Law Firm GvW Graf von Westphalen expands its Tax Law Practice
Dr Christoph Schneider has joined GvW Graf von Westphalen’s Frankfurt office. The 38-year old tax law specialist has 7 years of practical experience and supports the tax law team of Frankfurt-based partner Dr Frank Tschesche.
GvW therefore continues the expansion of its tax law practice after the latest very positive developments. Last year, the firm was able to gain the “tax law specialist experienced in transactions” (JUVE Handbuch) Dr Tschesche as tax expert for the further development of the tax law practice. In addition to his own clients, Dr Tschesche has since taken on the legal advice and structuring of various, mostly international transactions for the firm, e.g. the Interturbine (read more) and BURGER KING deals (read more). Furthermore, the lawyer and tax accountant who is also admitted in New York has become an important part of the Frankfurt real estate team, which has grown to 9 lawyers last year and which advises mainly on international transactions.
Other key aspects of the tax law practice are the (mostly international) tax law structuring advice, succession planning as well as the supervision of audits and tax arbitration cases on a national and international scale. In this field, the tax law practice has already handled many originally tax law related mandates, amongst others Tower Group, Heinrich Bauer Verlag, Brack Capital, Immeo Wohnen GmbH and Cash Guard AB.
With Dr Schneider, GvW’s tax law advice and in particular succession planning advice can be extended even further. In his previous position, Dr Schneider already handled the succession planning with regard to tax issues for many clients. At the same time, he worked as a speaker on this topic for the publishing house Dr Otto Schmidt.

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
