Secondments are extremely popular at GvW Graf von Westphalen
GvW Graf von Westphalen's secondment programme has developed very positively over the last couple of months. In the summer of 2013, four GvW lawyers have been, are currently being or will be seconded to a partner law firm or to a company in Germany or abroad.
Hamburg-based lawyer Sarah Grigo has recently returned from her two and a half-month secondment to Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel. In return, Danish lawyer Hanne Jespersen Hansen had spent this period at GvW's Hamburg office.
Dr Lars Weber will return to the Frankfurt-based corporate team on 1 July. Dr Weber is currently working as a secondee at US law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler in New York City.
Cuifang Wang from our Hamburg office will be joining Peking-based law firm Dacheng on a three-month secondment from 1 August onwards. Dacheng is a a Chinese commercial law firm with around 2600 lawyers.
The focus of Johan van der Veer's secondment will be the opportunity to get to know the in-house perspective. The Hamburg-based insurance lawyer will commence a three-month secondment at Allianz in Munich starting in July.
"We are very pleased that we are in a position to offer four of our associates the opportunity to take part in secondments within such a short period" explained Christian Mayer-Gießen, partner responsible for human resources. "The secondments will be an important experience for our associates. And GvW as an international commercial law firm will profit enormously from this."
At GvW the number of lawyers increased by 15% last year. In 2012, the firm trained more than 80 trainee lawyers and interns - more than ever before.

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
