Pro Bono

Pro Bono advisory

The importance of pro bono legal services is growing, also in Germany. It is useful and complementary to government support mechanisms such as legal aid towards promoting the rule of law. As a leading commercial law firm in Germany we are aware of our role and responsibility in society. That is why we wish to help especially non-profit organisations and institutions in need of access to qualified legal counselling but often lacking the financial resources to do so.

Memberships

GvW Graf von Westphalen is a member of Pro Bono Deutschland e.V., an association that promotes free civil legal services for non-profit causes. GvW is one of the few German medium-sized law firms involved in work for voluntary associations.

GvW is also one of the select member law firms of Trustlaw. Trustlaw is the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono programme that acts as a clearing house finding legal assistance from suitable law firms for pro bono matters.

Pro bono projects

For a good cause, our lawyers advise on various projects without charging legal fees. Here, our main focus is on advising non-profit organisations and institutions. GvW also supports the work of student-run non-profit law practices known as “law clinics” at various German universities.
