Lending a helping hand, coming together to learn about other working environments and lifestyles, “giving back” – these are the important goals of our corporate volunteering activities in which our employees put their special talents to work for projects. All our employees are encouraged to take the opportunity now and then to broaden their horizons and gain a different perspective.
The children’s charity trust McDonald’s Kinderhilfe Stiftung runs 22 Ronald McDonald Houses throughout Germany. Families with seriously ill children are given a “home away from home” close to the hospital. Among other things, the charity trust offers the families special catered dinners which are also provided by companies – as with the meals that GvW employees have cooked for the families at various locations.
Demonstrating life skills not used in everyday work is also what Malteser Social Days is about. Since last year, the Malteser charity and our firm have been teaming up to host Social Days at the GvW offices. Once the COVID-19 pandemic is over and gatherings are safe again, GvW employees will again pitch in to support neighbourhood projects: renovations at child day-care centres, job application training sessions at schools and handing out meals to homeless people are just some examples.
