Graf von Westphalen has strengthened its China team by hiring Helena Wan-Rong Chang-Schöne. Ms. Chang-Schöne will join the firm’s office in Frankfurt on April 1, 2011. Ms. Chang-Schöne will join the firm’s office in Frankfurt/Main. She will be the third German attorney at the firm who speaks Mandarin Chinese. From our offices in Frankfurt/Main, Munich and Shanghai, the three experts advise clients in both countries on German-Chinese business activities. By hiring Ms. Chang-Schöne, Graf von Westphalen is also responding to the growing need for consulting services in the inbound and outbound business with China.
“Ms. Chang-Schöne brings additional strength to our highly capable China team,” Managing Partner Christof Kleinmann says. “With her hiring, we expect to generate sustainable momentum in our business with the Chinese business community in the Rhine-Main region and throughout Germany. The presence of Chinese investors in Germany has grown considerably. We intend to systematically service this market.”
Ms. Chang-Schöne was born and raised in Taiwan. After completing law school in Taipei, she began an academic career before she moved to Germany for family reasons, where she earned a German master’s degree and PhD in law. Following completion of an LL.M. Program in the United States, Ms. Chang-Schöne passed both state examinations and was admitted to the bar in Germany. In recent years, Ms. Chang-Schöne worked as a support assistant and law clerk at Anglo-German law firm Taylor Wessing in Frankfurt/Main. She focuses on commercial and corporate law.
