JUVE Handbook German Commercial Law Firms 2012/2013: GvW Graf von Westphalen "on the right track"
The JUVE Handbook German Commercial Law Firms 2012/2013 confirms that GvW Graf von Westphalen has made good headway. After being nominated for law firm of the year 2012, JUVE's independent editorial team states in its Handbook 2012/2013 that the firm is "on the right track".
JUVE affirms the excellent reputation of GvW's Customs and Trade team by placing the firm among the top three firms in this field. The fields of state aid law, corporate, investment processes, food law, M&A, public private partnerships & project financing, project development, private construction, private equity and venture capital, tax criminal law, environment and planning, public procurement and distribution systems are also expressly recommended.
In the new edition of the standard work JUVE comments that the corporate practice has been "considerably improved". It went on to comment that high-volume deals are finding their way to GvW "considerably more often than in the past". The corporate practice "is increasingly on the radar of large companies and reputable medium-sized companies".
One of the reasons given both for this and the "improved rating" in the M&A practice is the successful integration of numerous laterals to the firm. The firm, it says, has "developed as an attractive address for ambitious laterals" and it "has been successful at integrating these". Over the last twelve months, with the "Interturbine" and "Teleflex" transactions, GvW has successfully concluded three deals each with a volume in the three figure millions.
GvW's real estate practice is recognised for its increased and consistent engagement nationwide. Fitting neatly with this, the firm is one of only 18 firms in Germany recommended in the first-time category "project development and plant construction".
The firm's "strong position" in public commercial law is confirmed by numerous recommendations from lawyers from various fields. According to JUVE, GvW also stands for "special expertise in connection with advising on transactions in the public sector".

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
