The law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen is further expanding its insurance industry focus area: As of January 1, 2024, Dr Quirin Vergho has joined the firm's Munich office as an equity partner.

Dr Quirin Vergho advises and represents national and international insurers and their insured in the handling of insurance claims. He also supports his clients in all other matters relating to insurance law and the development of insurance products. One of his main areas of expertise is cyber insurance, which he has been advising on and forensically supporting since its introduction to the German market. The specialist lawyer for insurance law is also active in other areas of financial lines, in particular D&O insurance. He also has many years of experience in occupational disability and accident insurance. Dr Quirin Vergho was a long-standing member of the management of Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein and head of the insurance law practice group. He joins GvW in a team with his assistant Heike Günther and legal assistant Hannah Wappenschmidt.

"Dr Vergho's profile is an excellent fit for our team," said Dr Wolfram Desch and Johan van der Veer, both heads of the insurance focus area at GvW. "With his long-standing client base of insurers and insurance brokers, he is a proven expert in the industry. And as an absolute team player, he identifies with our interdisciplinary consulting approach."

Dr Quirin Vergho: "I have known GvW for years as an outstanding advisor to the insurance industry, not least in the area of financial lines, also from joint mandates. It is therefore a great honor and pleasure for me and my team to be able to contribute to the further expansion of the insurance industry focus area at GvW."

In the focus area, the law firm bundles its sector-specific expertise for the insurance industry. The team is particularly valued by third parties such as the industry magazine JUVE for its work in D&O cases with directors' and officers' liability issues, including in the context of sometimes very large insolvencies, but also for its broad spectrum of liability and coverage issues as well as the interface with distribution law, a traditional strength of the firm.
