GvW continues to grow from its own ranks: 12 new partners

The law firm GvW Graf von Westphalen continues to focus strongly on its own young talent: with eight new equity partners and four new associated partners, the partnership has never before appointed so many new partners from its own ranks within one year.

With effect from 1 January 2024, Dr Magnus Dorweiler, Dr Michael Engel, Dr Katja Göcke, Ansgar Hain, Moritz Koch, Birgit Lotz, Johannes Räther and Benjamin Schwarzfischer were elected as new equity partners.

Dr Magnus Dorweiler advises clients from the Frankfurt office in all areas of real estate law, commercial tenancy law and in particular on large-volume real estate transactions including share deals, joint ventures and forward purchases as well as project developments.

Frankfurt partner Dr Michael Engel specializes in tax advice and structuring of M&A and real estate transactions as well as tax structuring advice for companies and wealthy individuals, including succession planning, restructuring and international tax law.

Dr Katja Göcke focuses on export control including embargoes and sanctions, European Union law and customs law. Dr. Göcke is a member of the "market-leading foreign trade law practice" (JUVE Handbook for Commercial Law Firms) at the Hamburg office.

Ansgar Hain is a lawyer and insolvency administrator at the firm's Berlin office. In addition to his insolvency-related litigation work, the specialist lawyer for insolvency and restructuring law also advises creditors in the run-up to and after a business partner's insolvency as well as representing creditors in the creditors' committees.

As a specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law, Moritz Koch is a member of the construction law practice group, which was recently named Law Firm of the Year by JUVE. The Hamburg native started his career at GvW as a trainee lawyer and has since been advising project developers, construction companies, building owners and property developers on all aspects of private construction law.

Birgit Lotz from the Düsseldorf office advises both public clients and private companies comprehensively on public procurement law. She also specializes in advising in the healthcare sector, in particular on medical device and pharmaceutical law.

Berlin partner Johannes Räther specializes in advising on all aspects of private construction law and real estate law. With his many years of litigation experience, he also represents his clients in their legal disputes. Mr. Räther has also worked for GvW since his legal clerkship.

Benjamin Schwarzfischer advises family businesses and medium-sized industrial companies on national and international corporate law. His services range from advising on company acquisitions and joint ventures to reorganizations and restructurings.

In addition, Dr. Jeannette Bergfeld, Hendrik Stamm, Katharina Teitscheid and Dr Gökce Uzar Schüller were elected as Associated Partners.

As a member of the construction law practice group, Dr Jeannette Bergfeld (Hamburg) advises all parties involved in private construction law on the judicial and extrajudicial enforcement of their claims.

Hendrik Stamm (Munich/Stuttgart), a specialist lawyer for public procurement law, advises both public clients and bidders comprehensively on all issues relating to public procurement law.

Katharina Teitscheid (Frankfurt) specializes in the internal prevention of money laundering, banking and banking supervisory law as well as professional liability law, both in the area of advice and litigation. 

Dr Gökce Uzar Schüller (Frankfurt/Istanbul) is a Turkish lawyer (Avukat) who supports German companies with her many years of experience in German-Turkish legal relations when entering the market and doing business in Turkey.
