Who’s Who Legal names Marian Niestedt as a leading practitioner of foreign trade and customs law

Graf von Westphalen partner Marian Niestedt is one of four Germany-based lawyers and 250 other experts worldwide to be named as a leading figure in the Who’s Who of Trade and Customs Lawyers 2010.

The Who’s Who of Trade and Customs Lawyers 2010 is published by Law Business Research Ltd.  In addition to its other publications, the British publisher has since 1996 released an annual index of lawyers from more than 100 different jurisdictions who lead the way in their respective fields.  It is also the official research partner of the International Bar Association.

The publications on the specific areas of law are summarised annually in the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, and are the result of extensive research – particularly via consultation with companies and law firms.  The JUVE Handbook of Commercial Law Firms 2010/2011 has already named Graf von Westphalen once again as the leading Germany-based law firm in the field of foreign trade and customs.

Graf von Westphalen’s foreign trade and customs practice consists of three partners and thee associates. Graf von Westphalen advises companies involved in foreign trade, in addition to forwarding companies, insurance providers and logistics companies, on all aspects of foreign trade and customs law, including sanctions and export control, WTO law and market regulation.  The team, which is based in Hamburg and Brussels, represents countries and their senior employees before the national authorities and the European Commission, as well as fiscal, civil, criminal and administrative courts – all the way up to the European Court of Justice.  The team specialises in the following sectors: pharmaceuticals and healthcare, food, electronics, new media, financial services, textiles/shoes and industrial facilities.

In the past year, Marian Niestedt has advised, amongst other clients, banks on export control and sanctions, food producers on market regulation and several other clients from a range of different sectors on import duties, rules of origin, customs tariffs and customs value.
