Compliance specialist Carsten Beisheim leaves Werhahn Group to join GvW
With seasoned compliance specialist Carsten Beisheim joining GvW tomorrow, the law firm is further expanding its advisory portfolio. The new partner is coming to GvW from the Werhahn conglomerate where he last served as Head of Group Compliance, Legal, and Data Protection including information security. He will be working for GvW out of its Düsseldorf and Stuttgart offices.
Carsten Beisheim is one of the leading names in the area of compliance advisory. In addition to having worked for an international commercial law firm he can look back on extensive inhouse experience, having acted as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with the listed financial services group Wüstenrot & Württembergische before joining Werhahn Group.
At GvW he will focus among other things on providing cross-industry advice in the fields of compliance and corporate governance as well as on conducting internal investigations or audits. Since Carsten Beisheim in the past has also teamed up on handling environmental social governance (ESG) issues from a compliance function perspective, he will also bring his specific expertise to bear within the ESG team at GvW.
“With the new corporate criminal legislation expected to pass in the new legislature, the significance of compliance measures and internal investigations to clarify non-compliance cases will grow”, according to Christof Kleinmann and Dr Robert Theissen, Managing Partner of GvW. “Thanks to the extensive expertise he has gained in these areas both from his many years of inhouse experience and from his practice as a lawyer, we are very pleased to have Carsten Beisheim join us.”
With regard to his move, Carsten Beisheim said: “GvW has a wealth of expertise in legal areas typically subject to high compliance requirements such as foreign trade and customs, IT and data protection, antitrust and public procurement. That is what makes the central interface function just as appealing to me as e.g. the systematic advisory approach GvW takes towards ESG issues.”

Transport System Bögl: new local public passenger transport system a big success in China
The Max Bögl group of companies has developed a new local public passenger transport system. The system called “Transport System Bögl” (TSB) uses magnetic levitation, or “maglev” technology and provides a clean and cost-efficient means of transport for better mobility in inner city areas. The technology is becoming increasingly popular also in other countries: Max Bögl’s most recent export order was the sale of its TSB to China. The company’s plans include building a 3.5 km test track in Chengdu and extensive marketing activities to promote the technology in China – all through a sales partnership with a Chinese company.
